AK-Interactive: World War II French Armor
The French campaign began on May 10, 1940, with the German army's invasion of the
Netherlands. After five weeks of fighting, it ended with the collapse of the French army.
In the public imagination, this defeat--often wrongly described as a total rout--is blamed
on outdated equipment, supposedly outmatched by that of the German military. In reality,
that wasn't the case, as the Wehrmacht lost half of its tanks and aircraft during those
five weeks of fighting. Most of the records from that period come from the Propaganda
Kompanie and mostly depict destroyed or abandoned French tanks.
French combat vehicles are of great interest from both a modeling and historical
perspective and offer endless possibilities when it comes to incorporating them into
small scenes or larger dioramas, as we will see in this publication. The collection of
French tanks featured in the book, detailed step-by-step, is entirely dedicated to 1:35
scale vehicles set in WWII.
